What is the Purpose of This Blog?

  • To present fresh and exciting news about Nintendo games, consoles, and the like to a wide audience.
  • To combine information about Nintendo and its products with succinct, honest, critical opinions.
  • To provide a new, unique perspective on all things Nintendo from someone who considers themselves an excitable, Nintendo nerd.

Who is The Nintendo Nerd?

For personal reasons, I am going to do my best to remain as anonymous as possible. However, I understand that many readers might want more succinct knowledge about my age, background, and gamer experience so they can better understand my point of view. That’s fair enough. So, here’s a little something about me that I feel will satisfy your curiosity.

I’m am American female in my 20s with a passion for writing. I just recently graduated from college with a Bachelor of the Arts in English.

As you could have guessed from the contents of this blog, I also love video games, and, of course, Nintendo. With that said, though, I do not consider myself a “hardcore gamer”, mostly because I haven’t had much exposure to games on other systems (PC, Xbox, or PlayStation) and I wouldn’t feel right grouping myself with much more experienced gamers. I actually owned a PS1 and PS2 when I was younger and loved them dearly—many of my favorite games are from that console—but I never made the transition to PS3. Instead, I spent my time with my beloved GameBoy, GameCube, DS, and Wii and became solely dedicated to Nintendo ever since. Sorry, Sony.

My favorite types of games are typically platformers, RPGS, adventure games, life simulation games and party games. I was never a huge fan of FPS games, intense strategy games, or MMORPGS, though I understand their appeal. However, because I don’t have a huge breadth of knowledge of other video game genres and companies aside from Nintendo related ones, I believe that makes me fall short of the classification of a true “gamer”.

When people ask if I’m a gamer, I usually just tell them I love video games and that I am a huge fan of Nintendo. I suppose this makes me fall into the more casual gaming side, but even stating that comes with some additional assumptions from the community that are also not true of myself. So, instead of trying to classify myself as one thing or another (which gets us nowhere, honestly) just know that I truly love the art of gaming whether its playing them, reading about them, watching people play them, or writing about them myself. With that said, I hope you understand more about my point of view and that you now have a better grasp about who I am without actually knowing, well, who I am.

Note: This blog is not about me; it’s about Nintendo and its games. Any requests for personal information about me (including friend codes and the like) will be denied or ignored.
