Pokémon ORAS-Mega Gallade, Mega Sharpedo, and Mega Camerupt!

The scans of the October issue of CoroCoro were released today and with them came some exciting new information about Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire! What news exactly? More Megas of course!

Mega Gallade-YAAAAAAY!My absolute favorite Mega we’ve seen thus far is Mega Gallade. Gallade has been my personal favorite Pokémon since Gen IV, so I’m very excited to see it getting a Mega in these new games. And it looks so cool, too! That helmet and those coat tails look awesome. They make a nice complement to Mega Gardevoir. Not much is known about him yet stat wise or even type and ability wise, but that’ll likely change in the near future as more information comes to us.

We even get a chance to see the newly designed Wally with longer hair and a new coat. His signature Pokémon is, in fact, his Gallade. This means the player will likely still help him catch a Ralts at the beginning of the game. I just hope we see a little bit more of Wally than we did in the original Ruby and Sapphire. Will his Mega Stone factor into the plot at all? Everyone else with a Mega Stone seems to have some importance to the story, so it makes me wonder if his role has been expanded.

Speaking of plot relevant Megas, the other two shown off in the scans are Mega Sharpedo and Mega Camerupt. These were predicted by fans back when we first noticed the Mega Stones on Archie and Maxie’s character art, and I’m glad to see that these predictions were right. Both have no change to type, and It’s said that Mega Camerupt has Sheer Force and receives a boost in every stat but Speed and that Mega Sharpedo has Strong Jaw and has a general boost to his stats.

Mega Camerupt and Mega Sharpedo: Yay!

Both Megas are cool looking and sound like formidable opponents. My favorite of the two is probably Mega Camerupt, though his design is seems more cute than it does tough. That fur around his feet and the volcano on his back just make him look like a Slugma or a Magcargo and I find that amusing. Also, it looks like he’s trying to smile or as if he’s trying to look intimidating but is failing. Regardless, though, I still quite like his design. I only wish Mega Sharpedo looked a little more like Mega Garchomp to help further establish a connection between those two Pokemon. The fan theories surrounding those two being evolutionary relatives always intrigued me, and I would have liked to see that possible connection expanded to their Megas too.

Lastly, it was revealed that the version legendaries for this game will have different abilities in their Primal Reversion forms that are similar to their original abilities. Kyogre will have the ability Sea of Beginnings and Groudon will have the ability Land of Endings (Nice reference to the games titles-alpha is the beginning and omega is the ending). Both abilities function like Drizzle and Drought respectively, but how they differ is not known yet. Also, the screenshots associated with this part of the scan show them being used in their Primal Reversion forms in battle, but on the player’s side. Wow, we can really use these ourselves? I guess I should have expected that, but for some reason I didn’t. Oh, well, sounds cool at the least.

Well, that’s about it for these scans. As it has been, I predict that the official websites will soon be updated to show off more information about these reveals and potentially more; and when it does you’re sure to see a new post from me.

Until Then,
